My Addons
I thought I would share a list of Addons that I use to make my Warcraft hunting experience easier and convenient. I’m not saying that EVERYONE should use the same addons, but I find some that are quite helpful for not only hunters but other classes out there too. Here they are in no particular order.
Auctioneer
One of the greatest AddOns in the game. This helps you to keep current prices on tab for any loot you may find and how much you should sell them for on the Auction House.
Atlas
An in-game version of all the instance maps in Warcraft. They’re very detailed layouts that include the zone, level range, entrance, exits, main boss locations and the location of flight points for both factions.
Deadly Boss Mods
My guild requires this for raiding, but I really enjoy it over some of the other boss mod programs. The timers are easy for me to see, they use a hierarchy system where they’ll pop up at the top of your screen (I’m sure you can move them around but I like where they are) and when the important timers need to be up (say Maiden’s Repentance) it moves it into the dead center of the screen. It also has a second count down timer. The other nice feature I like about this is the instant /tell it gives to people if they’re sending you tells in the middle of a boss fight.
DMB also works great in the battlegrounds like Alterac Valley. It keeps timers on graveyards and bunkers and if you shift click on one of the timer bars you can broadcast it to the entire BG raid.
Omen
It’s almost a must have by anyone who raids. It works like a damage meter but it shows your threat on the mob you are fighting. This is very important since one doesn’t want to pull aggro off the Main Tank in raids. Trust me you won’t like it, your Tank won’t like it and your healers won’t like it.
QuestHelper
This has replaced Map Notes for the most part. If you haven’t seen my write up on QuestHelper, check it out. In a nutshell, it plots all the cords of all the quests in your queue on your map for you. Then it configures the best and fastest route for you to take to knock all your quests out. There’s a bunch of other features that are so cool…just read my post on it.
Titan Panel
One of my other favorite AddOns. It allows you up to 3 bars that you can place on the top or bottom of your screen. These bars allow for other Titan AddOns that you can place onto the bar in any order you want. It allows me to keep track of my location, my money, honor, durability, guild members, etc. There are many different Titan Panel plug ins it’s hard to choose from.
Other plug-ins I use with Titan are:
- Titan Gold Tracker, this is an easy, efficient, and great way to keep track of money you’ve made and lost while playing. Once you log on alts, it will also keep track of their money all in one box so you can see how much gold you have across the board.
- TitanGuild, a great plug in that tells you all your guild mates online, their level, guild rank and location
- TitanCalendar, lets me know what up and coming Warcraft Events are near
- TitanFriends, this keeps a little tab on your bar telling you how many of your friends are online or offline. If you mouse over the icon a box will pop down showing the names of your friends and it will allow you to send them an invite or a tell.
ZHunterMod
A specific mod just for us hunters. Why do I love this? Because it was one of the first hunter mods that gave extra buttons. Being the button pusher I am, it allowed me an extra row with all my aspects on them, another for my traps, and another for my tracking. It also has ZHunterAntiDaze which turns off your running aspects as soon as your hit. Of course there’s more than what I listed, but I use this mod for just those things.
JiralAmmoWarning
Great little addon that flashes warnings when your ammo is low. You can set the amount to when you want to start seeing warnings and when it gets to a critical level, a box will actually pop up as a reminder.
RatingBuster
I recently added this to my own Addons after reading about this. RatingBuster allows you to compare stats of armor/weapons against each other to help you figure out which item will give you more bang. It can also be configured to show you what stats would look like if you socket an item one way, then socket them another way without having to spend 500g on gems. Though I am still learning all the little features RatingBuster has to offer, BRK did a wonderful write up on this Addon and it can be found here.
PowerAuras
This addon replaced Sorren Timers. It’s very customizable in regards of timers and when certain spells or abilities are usable. Many people have done great write ups on Power Auras so I won’t regurgitate the work people have done. Here’s a list of links if you would like to read more about this addon:
Scrolling Combat Text
A simple yet complex addon which scrolls your damage/rage/combo points on your screen. You can set it up in a variety of ways but be aware this mod can be very spammy and has crashed me out of the game a few times. The good thing is you can adjust it to cut down on the spam. Another nice feature allows you to place how your damage will scroll across the screen if you don’t like honking damage right over your head.
